Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the required points. While you have attempted to address the three bullet points, the explanation regarding the keys is confusing, and the instructions for getting from the station to the house are missing entirely. The letter ends abruptly mid-sentence, meaning the final requirement regarding evening plans is not addressed. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are fully developed and that the letter reaches the required length by providing more detail and context for each instruction.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter lacks a clear structure and logical progression. The paragraphing is inconsistent, and the abrupt ending makes it difficult to follow the flow of information. While there are some basic cohesive devices used, such as 'Nevertheless' and 'So', the connections between sentences are often mechanical or unclear. The referencing is also problematic; for instance, it is unclear which friend is being referred to in the second paragraph. To improve, focus on using clear paragraph breaks for each bullet point and ensure that your ideas transition smoothly from one to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic structures to convey meaning. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'arrived the near railway station' instead of 'arrives at the station near my house' and 'left my key to my friends house' instead of 'left my key with my friend'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to travel and arrangements, and pay closer attention to standard English collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with verb tense consistency, such as 'arrived' instead of 'arrives', and missing articles or prepositions throughout the text. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence variety. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles before nouns.
