Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points: key arrangements, directions, and evening plans. However, the letter is under the 150-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the score. The content is somewhat underdeveloped; for instance, the explanation of the key location is unclear ('put the key at the main door corner'), and the mention of a 'chef' to provide directions is slightly confusing in a casual family context. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the lack of sufficient detail and the failure to meet the length requirement prevent a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into three short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Afterthat' is not a standard English transition, and 'However' is used incorrectly at the start of the final paragraph to introduce a personal sentiment. The flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, and the referencing (e.g., 'get you all in house') is sometimes awkward, which hinders the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choice, such as 'putted the key' (incorrect verb form) and 'provide direction support'. The phrase 'five star hotel' is a bit generic, and the closing 'Your sincerely' contains a grammatical error ('Your' instead of 'Yours'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the errors in collocation and word formation are noticeable throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. There are issues with verb tenses ('When you arrived' instead of 'arrive'), incorrect verb forms ('I was putted'), and missing articles ('at train station'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'It is a long time you see all together'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization after full stops.
