Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear samrat
I have hide the keys under the front door mat. When you arrived at the station where you can see lot options you can even travel bus or even by taxi. My suggestion you should travel by taxi that will get you home fast.
I will come home around 7p.m whenever my meeting finish. When i will reach at home we will enjoy barbecue together at lounge. We enjoy together talking about our childhood . I will share also my work life to you. After finish eating we will go to the downtown to enjoy beauty of the town .
Sincerely

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all three bullet points, but the development is insufficient due to the significant under-length. The instructions required a minimum of 150 words, and at 106 words, the response fails to meet the length requirement. While the key arrangements, directions, and evening plans are mentioned, they lack the necessary detail and elaboration expected in a formal or semi-formal letter. The tone is somewhat informal, and the brevity prevents the ideas from being fully developed, resulting in a limited response that does not meet the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, but the flow is disjointed. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas smoothly. For example, the transition between the arrival instructions and the evening plans is abrupt. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'When i will reach at home', which lacks a natural connection to the previous paragraph. While the overall message is understandable, the lack of logical progression and limited use of linking words makes the text feel mechanical and fragmented.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'lot options', 'get you home fast', and 'enjoy beauty of the town' are simplistic and lack the precision required for a higher band. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'I have hide' (should be 'hidden') and 'whenever my meeting finish' (should be 'finishes'). The range of vocabulary is limited to everyday, functional language, and there is no attempt to use less common or more sophisticated lexical items appropriate for a letter to a family member.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with verb tenses ('I have hide', 'When you arrived'), subject-verb agreement ('meeting finish'), and missing articles ('travel bus', 'at lounge'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and spacing. The lack of grammatical control and the limited range of structures significantly impact the overall quality of the writing.
