Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: key arrangements, directions, and evening plans. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member. However, there are some inconsistencies in the information provided. For example, you mention you will be home in the evening, but later state you will join them at 4:30 p.m., which is generally considered afternoon. Additionally, the instructions regarding the taxi and the road block are slightly confusing. To improve, ensure that your logistical details are consistent and clearly explained to avoid any potential misunderstanding for the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as starting a sentence with 'Moreover, So except my apologize'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when discussing the taxi and the road block. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that transitions are used more naturally would help to elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message, such as 'convenience', 'apartment', and 'temporary'. However, there are several errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'Economatrics' (Econometrics), 'favourit' (favourite), 'egerly' (eagerly), and 'except' instead of 'accept'. Some collocations are also non-standard, such as 'do our dinner' instead of 'have dinner'. Focusing on accurate spelling and learning common collocations will help you express your ideas with more precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Indian food are available'), tense inconsistencies ('I writing', 'I had cook'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and the use of commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. To improve, pay closer attention to basic verb tenses and ensure that your sentence construction follows standard English rules.
