Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear relative,
I hope you are well. I am felling so grateful by listening thar that you are coming at my place. I am very excited to spend my time with you since I did not meet you from last 2 years.
I am living with my one of my friend at 2 bedroom hall kitchen apartment. I checked that you are arriving in the morning but I will not be at home. As I have an important meeting on that day with my company client. I will inform my friend about this and he will assist you to come inside the home. We have 3rd room vacant for the guest, please drop all your belongings over there and you can take rest over there.
Same friend who assist you to enter into the house will be there for pickup as well at station. Just now he bought the car and he is very keen to drive a car. During the day if you find an any issue, feel free to text me or call me on my personal mobile number.
I will be going to meet you in the evening around 5:30pm. Please be ready we will go for hangout and dinner outside. I will also ask my friend to join us. Thank you
Regards,
Krunal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the key arrangements, providing directions (via your friend), and suggesting evening plans. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a relative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, you mention your friend will assist with the keys and pick them up, but the instructions on how to get from the station to the house are vague, as you rely entirely on the friend rather than providing specific directions as requested. To improve, ensure you provide more concrete details for each requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the visit. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'As I have', 'During the day', and 'I will also'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'Same friend who assist you'. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between your ideas would help the text flow more naturally and improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'belongings', 'vacant', and 'keen'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation that slightly hinder the naturalness of the writing, such as 'listening thar that you are coming at my place' (should be 'hearing that you are coming to my place') and 'go for hangout' (should be 'go out' or 'hang out'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I am felling so grateful' (spelling), 'did not meet you from last 2 years' (tense error), and 'if you find an any issue' (article error). While these errors are frequent, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage for past events, and reducing minor errors in articles and prepositions.
