explain arrangements you have made for them to have keys and get into the house
tell your relative how to get from the train station to your house
say when you will be home and suggest what you could do together that evening
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Suresh,
I hope you are doing well. It is glad to hear that you will come to visit me next week. Unfortunately, I will not at home until evening because I have an urgent meeting with my supervisor on that day. I will put my home key under a flower pot which is sit just beside the main door. You can pick it and get into the home.
Furthermore, as you will come by train hence you can take bus service from bus station which is situated right side of the out railway station. Bus service will not only remain cheaper for you but also drop you at front of my house.
Moreover, I will try to reach at home as early as possible may be till 6pm. Since you love to eat noddle fries so I will make those things for you. After this we will go to cinema to watch latest movie of our favorite actor Rajune which will release on this Saturday.
I hope you could understand my problem. I will catch you soon.
Best regards,
Jag

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the key arrangement, provided directions from the train station, and specified your arrival time along with a suggestion for the evening. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member. To improve, ensure that you provide slightly more detail in your explanations; for instance, you could have described the flower pot or the specific bus route to make the instructions more helpful and natural. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each bullet point, and a closing. You use transition words like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Since' to connect your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally, ensuring that the flow between sentences feels less like a list and more like a natural conversation.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'urgent meeting', 'situated', and 'favorite actor'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'It is glad to hear' (should be 'I am glad to hear'), 'sit just beside' (should be 'sits'), and 'noddle fries' (likely 'noodle dishes'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over common English collocations and verb forms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more natural idiomatic expressions would enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I will not at home' (missing verb 'be'), 'pick it' (should be 'pick it up'), and 'reach at home' (unnecessary preposition). Additionally, 'which is sit' should be 'which is sitting' or 'which sits'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions, as these are recurring issues in your writing.
