Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the key arrangements involving your neighbour, provided instructions regarding the cab from the station, and specified your arrival time along with suggestions for the evening. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that you provide slightly more detail in your explanations; for example, you could have described the location of the neighbour's house or provided more specific details about the 'food corner' to fully develop your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'But', 'Also', and 'Until then' to connect your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your paragraphing is consistent. For instance, the transition between the key arrangements and the transport instructions could be smoother to help the reader follow your logic more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'arrangements', 'neighbour', and 'downtown'. However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'visite' instead of 'visit', 'appartement' instead of 'apartment', and 'pour' instead of 'your/our'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Focusing on accurate spelling and common collocations will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with prepositions and verb forms, such as 'didn't meet almost from two years' (should be 'haven't met for almost two years') and 'due an urgent meeting' (should be 'due to an urgent meeting'). Additionally, there are minor errors with subject-verb agreement and pronoun usage (e.g., 'your are coming'). Increasing your control over these basic structures will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
