Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the key arrangements, providing directions from the station, and suggesting evening activities. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For example, the directions are clear but could be more descriptive, and the explanation regarding the keys is functional but brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that you expand slightly on your ideas to provide a more natural and helpful tone, which is expected in a personal correspondence task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the arrival details to the keys, then to the directions, and finally to the evening plans. You have used some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Once', and 'Moreover'. However, the paragraphing is insufficient; the entire body of the letter is presented as a single block of text. Breaking the letter into distinct paragraphs for each main point would significantly improve the readability and structure of your response. Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother with more varied linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Words like 'unexpected', 'arranged', and 'prepared' are used correctly. There are some minor spelling errors, such as 'MEATING' instead of 'meeting' and 'CEDERBRAE' (which may be a proper noun, but ensure accuracy). The vocabulary is functional and appropriate for a semi-formal or informal letter, but it lacks the range of less common lexical items that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. Focus on incorporating more descriptive adjectives and varied verbs to enhance your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

Your writing shows a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several punctuation and grammatical errors. For instance, there are issues with comma usage and spacing after punctuation (e.g., 'AUGUST 02,2026 MORNING, UNFORTUNETLY'). Additionally, there are some capitalization inconsistencies and minor errors like 'GET DOWN FROM THE TRAIN' (a more natural phrasing would be 'get off the train'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic punctuation and sentence boundary errors.
