Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the key arrangements, provided instructions for the train station, and proposed an evening activity. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member, maintaining a friendly and personal register throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the situation and the plan. To improve, ensure that you proofread for minor slips in logic, such as the phrasing 'due to necessity of mine at work', which is slightly unnatural. Overall, the task is fully covered.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your message easily. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'but', 'so', and 'as', to link your sentences. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate a wider variety of linking words and phrases to improve the flow between sentences and paragraphs. Additionally, ensure that your paragraphing is consistent and clearly demarcated to enhance the overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some appropriate phrases like 'unforgettable' and 'opportunity'. However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'exicted' (excited), 'warry' (worry), 'cosines' (cuisines), and 'catchedup' (caught up). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on accurate spelling and using more precise collocations. Expanding your vocabulary to include more varied descriptive language would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and forms, such as 'I will made' (I will make), 'I will left' (I will leave), and 'we will made' (we will make). These errors occur throughout the text. While they do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall accuracy. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of future tense structures. Proofreading for these specific types of errors will significantly improve your accuracy.
