tell your relative how to get from the train station to your house

Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear brother,
How are you?
I am writing this letter to inform you that although I know you're coming tomorrow, I will be not at home till the tomorrow evening.
Since you're train arriving in the morning, so I will give the keys to my neighbour, Mr. Sharma. His contact number is xxxxxxxxx. I already informed him about you. So feel free to contact him. Also, I am going to cook you favourite food, Dal and rice which I will going to put into refrigerator.
The station is not to far from my home. It will takes only 20 minutes in cab. When you arrive at station, at you left side, there is a small cab station near Tim hortans where you can have some snacks if you hungry. Just take the cab and get to my way.
When I will be home, I am planning to go for dinner at the Indian restaurant near my home. We will have chit chat together in the night and we will some games that we used to play in our childhood.
See you tomorrow :)
Yours sincerely
Pooja

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the key arrangement with your neighbour, provided directions from the station, and outlined your evening plans. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a brother, maintaining a friendly and informal register throughout. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, ensure that all instructions are followed with greater precision; for instance, while you mentioned the cab station, providing a slightly more direct set of instructions would improve the clarity of the communication.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the arrival logistics to the evening plans. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Since', 'Also', and 'When', which help the reader follow your train of thought. However, the paragraphing is somewhat limited; the body of the letter could be better structured by separating the key/arrival information from the evening activity suggestions. Additionally, some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear paragraph breaks would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using words like 'inform', 'neighbour', and 'refrigerator' correctly. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'get to my way' instead of 'get to my place' or 'my house'. You also have some spelling errors, such as 'Tim hortans' (Tim Hortons) and 'you favourite food' (your). While these do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of natural expressions to move into the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the quality of the writing. Examples include 'I will be not at home', 'you're train arriving', 'it will takes', and 'we will some games'. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these slips suggests a need for more practice with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of auxiliary verbs. Focusing on these foundational areas will significantly improve your accuracy.
