Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the key arrangements, providing directions from the station, and suggesting an evening activity. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a family member, although the explanation regarding your father's health is somewhat lengthy and distracts slightly from the core task requirements. To improve, ensure that the information provided is concise and directly relevant to the logistical needs of your guest. While the instructions were followed, the development of the 'evening activity' could be more specific to ensure the reader feels fully informed about the plans.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'However', 'Moreover', and 'Consequently' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Let me explain my situation' followed by a long personal narrative. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connection between the emergency situation and the specific instructions for the guest could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they flow naturally within the sentences would help elevate this score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'radiant condition', 'emergency condition', and 'inconvenience'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'radiant condition' (which is not a standard greeting), 'two time he has hospitalized' (should be 'twice he has been hospitalized'), and 'spare our time together' (which is slightly unnatural in this context). While your meaning is clear, the lack of precision in word choice prevents a higher score. Focus on learning common collocations and phrases used in everyday English correspondence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an ability to use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('to Calgary station'), incorrect verb forms ('I have to him to special hospital'), and preposition errors ('call on +1...'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your instructions, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions, and proofread your work to catch minor slips in tense and word order.
