Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: key arrangements, directions, and evening plans. However, there is a significant issue with the content regarding the timeline. You state the relative arrives on 7 September, but then mention you will be back on 8 September morning. This contradicts the prompt's instruction that you will be home in the evening of the same day. Additionally, the suggestion for what to do together in the evening is missing, as you only mention the housekeeper's availability. To improve, ensure your narrative logic aligns with the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Apart from this' and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by the logical inconsistencies mentioned in the task achievement section. Furthermore, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the logical flow between sentences is seamless and consistent with the scenario provided.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for this task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some functional phrases like 'significant meeting' and 'enthusiastic to meet you'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'I have had hired' (incorrect tense/structure) and 'provide you keys of the home' (should be 'provide you with the keys'). To improve, focus on learning common collocations and refining your use of verb tenses to ensure your word choices sound more natural and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'I won't be at home for receiving you' (should be 'to receive you'), 'I have had hired' (should be 'I have hired'), and 'Although, I am not home but' (incorrect use of conjunctions). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic verb patterns and avoiding redundant conjunctions like using 'Although' and 'but' in the same clause.
