Dear Phil,

I hope you are doing well. When I heard that you would come to stay with me, I was on cloud nine. Unfortunately, I have an urgent meeting to attend on that day. I am writing this letter to inform you of the arrangements that

I have done for your first visit.

To begin with, I have hired a taxi to reach home safely from train station. Firstly, he will pick up you from the station. I will enclose the taxi number and contact details with this letter. After that when you reach at home, there is a flower pot behind this you will find a box- there is the place where key is hidden and then take a some rest.

I will make breakfast for you as well. I made your favorite South Indian dish- idle sambar. I hope you enjoy it. I really wanted to pick up you from the station but I must to attend this meeting as my boss wants to present me on the behalf my company. I am very sorry i am unable to meet you in the morning.

Additionally. I will join you in the evening and we spend quality of time together and we can watch movies and going for dine out as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: key arrangements, directions, and evening plans. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member. However, there is a slight confusion in the second paragraph regarding the taxi; you mention hiring a taxi, but then describe the key location as if the relative is arriving independently. Additionally, the mention of making breakfast is slightly contradictory as you stated you would not be home until the evening. To improve, ensure that your narrative remains consistent throughout the letter to avoid confusing the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Firstly', and 'Additionally'. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'After that when you reach at home'. The flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking words and ensuring that the logical progression of ideas is smoother. For instance, the transition from the taxi arrangement to the key location needs a more natural connection.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'on cloud nine' and 'quality of time' are good attempts at idiomatic language. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'present me on the behalf my company' (should be 'represent me on behalf of my company') and 'going for dine out' (should be 'going out for dinner'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over common collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'pick up you' (should be 'pick you up'), 'I must to attend' (should be 'I must attend'), and 'there is the place where key is hidden' (missing article). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with sentence boundaries and capitalization. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct phrasal verb placement will help improve your accuracy.
