Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear , Raman,
How are you, Hope you are doing well, I am really happy that you are coming tomorrow morning.Unfortunately, I will have a shift tomorrow owing to which I cannot come to pick you up from railway station, However, I ready all the stuff for you to make it easily and comfortable for you to come here. I put house keys under the mat that is in the front of my main door. Along with that, I put a towel there, so you can take shower and after having shower you can eat home cooked food, that i will make for you.
Besides this, I want to share important information with you that, when you are about to visit there just give me a call, so I can send my driver to pick you up from a station.Take care of your bags because of thieves around there.Recently, someone steal my purse which has money and all the documents.Furthermore, My driver will have a board in his hand where, your name will be written on it, due to which you can easily identify my driver, that place is very crowded.
Moreover, just let me know the exact timing, when your train is coming there. It will not only make me know about your timing but also help you guide better about different gates.I am really excited that you are going to come at my home. I have decided so many things to do with you such as games that we usually play in our school time, our favourite games are Ludo, snake and ladders and cards as well. At night we will go out to watch a movie.
Yours lovingly,
Manpreet Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You clearly explained the key arrangements, provided instructions for the driver, and suggested evening activities. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member, being friendly and informal. However, the development of ideas is slightly inconsistent; for instance, the advice about thieves and the anecdote about your stolen purse are somewhat tangential and distract from the core task of providing arrival instructions. To improve, ensure that all information provided is directly relevant to the instructions given in the prompt to maintain focus and clarity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is generally well-organized, with a clear opening and closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Along with that' to connect ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in 'How are you, Hope you are doing well'. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the logistical instructions and the personal anecdotes feels a bit abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring consistent punctuation would help the ideas progress more smoothly and logically throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'owing to which' and 'identify my driver'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'I ready all the stuff' (should be 'I have prepared everything') and 'someone steal my purse' (should be 'someone stole my purse'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that your word choices are grammatically and contextually accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses ('someone steal my purse') and sentence punctuation (comma splices and run-on sentences). For example, 'I am really excited that you are going to come at my home' should be 'come to my home'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that sentences are correctly terminated with periods rather than commas.
