Student answer (Band 6.5)
Hii Princy,
I hope you are doing well. It's been a while seeing you. Last time, we have meet at our cousin's wedding party. However, I am soo happy to see you again at my house. Moreover, you will be here in the morning. Due to some other work related commitments, I will not be at home until the evening.
To begin with, I have made some arrangements for you to get into the house. I left my house key at my neighbour place and she is aware that you will be coming in morning time. Furthermore, Once you will reach at the train station, you can come to my house by taking taxi or cab. I will be at home at 6pm and we could go for dinner together in the evening time and spend some time in the club. I hope you have a safe travel and enjoy your journey. I am eagerly waiting to see you again.
see you soon and take care.
Lots of love,
Riddhi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained the key arrangements, provided instructions for the journey from the station, and proposed a plan for the evening. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member, maintaining a friendly and informal register throughout. To improve further, you could provide slightly more detail regarding the directions from the station (e.g., mentioning a specific landmark or the approximate duration of the taxi ride) to fully develop the ideas and reach a higher band level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' to link your points. However, the paragraphing is slightly disjointed; the opening and the main body are somewhat merged. To improve, ensure that each distinct topic—the keys, the directions, and the evening plans—is clearly separated into its own paragraph. Additionally, some transitions feel a bit mechanical; try to vary your linking phrases to make the flow more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for this task and conveys your meaning clearly. You use some informal expressions suitable for a letter to a relative, such as 'It's been a while' and 'Lots of love'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'neighbour place' (should be 'neighbour's place') and 'morning time' (which is slightly redundant). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary, such as 'pre-arranged' instead of 'made some arrangements' or 'convenient' instead of 'good'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'Last time, we have meet' (should be 'we met') and 'Once you will reach at the train station' (should be 'Once you reach the station'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on verb tense consistency and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing your use of error-free complex sentences will help you achieve a higher score.
