Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You explained the digital lock arrangement, provided clear instructions for the arrival, and mentioned your plans for the evening. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family member. However, there is a slight inconsistency in the timeline: you mention you have a doctor's appointment at 10:30 am, but then state you expect to be home by 12 pm, which is quite early for someone arriving in the morning. Despite this, the purpose of the letter is clear and the requirements are fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific aspect of the visit. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'once you get into house' and 'if you need anything', which help the flow. However, the paragraphing is a bit fragmented, and the transition between the house access instructions and the evening plans could be smoother. The use of 'i' instead of 'I' throughout the text is a recurring issue that slightly affects the professional appearance of the writing, though the overall progression of ideas remains clear.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'digital lock', 'brewed coffee', and 'booked movie tickets'. The language is natural and appropriate for a personal letter. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'reach you' instead of 'get back to you' or 'contact you', and 'I wish you find everything well' which should be 'I hope you find everything in order'. These errors do not impede communication, but a wider range of collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I know you will be tried and might want to take shower'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'), missing articles ('the train station', 'a shower'), and tense inconsistencies ('just before you arrived' instead of 'arrive'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To reach a higher band, focus on consistent capitalization and correct article usage.
