explain arrangements you have made for them to have keys and get into the house
tell your relative how to get from the train station to your house

Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Rahul,
I hope this finds you well. I am glad to know that you are coming to stay with me by train in the morning. Unfortunately, I am not available at home until the evening.
Nevertheless, I have booked the cab with enough space for your luggage to pick you up from railway station on time and drop you at my house, where you can take some rest.
However, I made all the necessary arrangement for you at home. First of all, please collect the keys from my neighbor house number-203. Additionally, I have kept some snacks in the refrigerator and few deserts such as chocolate and cake.
I will catch you at home after later in the evening, then we can spend some quality time together. I have arranged delicious dinner, during which we can recall old memories and enjoy some time together.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. Please give my regards to your family.
Kind regards.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all bullet points required in the task instructions. You clearly explained the arrangements for the keys by mentioning your neighbor at house number 203, detailed how Rahul can get from the station to your house using a pre-booked cab with luggage space, and stated when you will be home while suggesting a delicious dinner and recalling old memories. The tone is appropriate for a semi-formal/informal letter to a family member, and all ideas are adequately supported and developed without any omissions. Therefore, this fulfills the criteria for a strong performance at Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter exhibits a clear logical organization and progression throughout. You have used appropriate paragraphing to separate different ideas, such as transportation arrangements in the second paragraph and key collection/snacks in the third paragraph. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as "Nevertheless," "First of all," and "Additionally." However, there is some slightly awkward referencing and minor mechanical transitions, such as "after later in the evening," which slightly disrupts the natural flow. Overall, the sequencing of ideas remains easy to follow, making this a solid Band 7.0 performance for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate and sufficient range of vocabulary for this task, successfully using terms like "luggage," "refrigerator," and "delicious dinner." You also make some attempts at less common lexical items, such as "pre-booked" concepts and "recall old memories." However, there are a few word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as "booked the cab with enough space" (instead of "booked a cab") and "neighbor house number-203" (instead of "neighbor's house at number 203"). Furthermore, you misspelled "deserts" instead of "desserts." These minor errors do not impede communication, placing your vocabulary use securely at a Band 6.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
Your response contains a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as "I am glad to know that you are coming to stay with me by train in the morning" and "I have arranged a delicious dinner, during which we can recall old memories." There is evidence of control over tenses, articles, and punctuation, but a few grammatical errors persist, such as "keep some snacks... and few deserts" (using 'few' with an uncountable/countable mix incorrectly) and "catch you at home after later in the evening" (redundant phrasing). These errors are non-systematic and do not impede comprehension, allowing you to achieve a Band 6.5.
