Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Pratik,
I was glad that you'll finally come to spend some days with me. Unfortunatelly, when you'll arrive on 15th October at 9AM, I'll already leave the house becasue of my Corporate job.
Firstof all, you'll get key from Sunny who is my neighbour, and live in flat no.G-403 right besides ours. You also knew him and familiar with him, so you can spend some time him. Also, I'll prepare your favourite morning snack Puha with strong Indian tea.
From railway station to our house, you can get GRT local bus number 142 that takes almost a hour but it is cheaper or you can book any private taxi service so that you can reach within in 15 minutes.
After office hours, I'll have to spend extra a hour to attend a business meeting with my boss, therefore I'll reach home around 8 PM. Then we can go outside for a dinner at Manecchowk, which is famous for multicusine foods, and you may like to taste and atmosphere.
Once you'll reach at home, feel free to contact me anytime.
See you soon.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your letter successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, satisfying the core requirements while showing some elements of the next band. You cover the key details well, explaining house entry arrangements through your neighbour Sunny, providing commuting options from the railway station like the GRT bus or a taxi, and suggesting an evening plan to dine at Manecchowk. However, the response sits at this level because certain ideas remain slightly under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, the mention of spending time with Sunny could be expanded with a bit more context about what they might discuss, and the evening plan is stated rather than thoroughly described. Overall, the tone is appropriately friendly and semi-formal, fulfilling the communicative purpose effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your letter demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement that guides the reader logically from your arrival details and key handover to transportation and your evening plans. You use standard paragraphing effectively to separate distinct points, and simple cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'From railway station', and 'After office hours' help structure the text. Nevertheless, referencing and cohesion occasionally feel a bit mechanical or faulty, which prevents a higher rating. For example, expressions like 'get key from Sunny' lack a necessary article, and phrases such as 'so that you can reach within in 15 minutes' contain redundant prepositions. To reach a higher standard, cohesive devices and referencing could be managed with greater flexibility and natural flow throughout the piece.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts and attempting some less common items such as 'multicusine foods'. Communication is generally clear, but the writing features several spelling and word-choice errors that keep the score at this level. There are spelling slips such as 'Unfortunatelly' and 'becasue', alongside awkward collocations like 'Corporate job' with unnecessary capitalization. Additionally, phrasing like 'prepare your favourite morning snack Puha' could be expressed more naturally. To achieve a stronger band, you need to demonstrate a wider, more flexible range of vocabulary with greater precision, fewer spelling mistakes, and consistently accurate word choices and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your letter shows a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and time conjunctions to connect ideas. However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent, with several noticeable errors that prevent a higher evaluation. You struggle frequently with verb tenses and modals in future time clauses, such as 'when you'll arrive', 'Once you'll reach at home', and 'you also knew him', where present or past forms are incorrectly anticipated or mismatched. There are also frequent issues with missing articles, such as 'get key from Sunny', 'spend some time him', and 'take almost a hour'. While these errors rarely impede overall communication, achieving a higher band requires a greater proportion of error-free sentences and firmer control over complex sentence structures.
