explain arrangements you have made for them to have keys and get into the house
tell your relative how to get from the train station to your house

Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Ann,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to inform you that I'm not available in the morning when you get home. However, I am very delibrate you meet with you. As you know, I leave early in the morning for my classes, and later I have my part-time work. Anyways, I made all the arrangements for you. Firstly, when you arrive at the home gate, you can see one apartment on your right; you can get the key from my neighbours, though they are very lovely, and I already told them about you. Moreover, after getting out of the train station, I have attached my address (House No. 45, Street No. 2, Shah Mir Road). It's up to you whether you'd like to book a cab or prefer to take the bus; both are in front of you after getting out of the station. I will be back home by 9:00 pm. Additionally, we can talk and order something to eat.
See you soon.
Best Wishes,
Sam

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, earning a score that reflects full coverage with some variation in development. You clearly explain how Ann can get the keys by contacting your neighbours at the apartment on the right. You also provide instructions on how to reach your house from the station, mentioning both bus and cab options along with your specific address. Finally, you state your return time as 9:00 pm and suggest talking and ordering food together that evening. However, some ideas show a slight imbalance in depth; for instance, the explanation of the transport options is practical and clear, while the evening activity is touched upon rather briefly without much elaboration. To reach the next level, all bullet points would need to be equally extended and fully explored with richer details throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter maintains a generally coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical train of thought from greeting to closing. You make use of basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally' to structure the middle section of the text. However, the cohesion can occasionally feel mechanical or slightly abrupt, particularly in transitions between sentences like 'However, I am very delibrate you meet with you' and the shift into logistical details. Paragraphing is also somewhat limited, as the vast majority of the body is lumped into a single dense block rather than being broken down into clear thematic paragraphs for keys, travel directions, and evening plans. Improving logical paragraph breaks and using a smoother variety of referencing would elevate this aspect.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, successfully conveying your meaning to the reader. You attempt some less common phrases and descriptive language, such as 'part-time work' and 'lovely'. Nevertheless, there are notable lexical and word choice inaccuracies that prevent a higher grade. For example, the phrase 'I am very delibrate you meet with you' contains a misuse of the word 'delibrate' and an awkward grammatical collocation, and writing 'get home' in the second sentence instead of 'arrive' creates a slight confusion regarding your schedule. Spelling and word forms are generally functional, but refining your vocabulary choices and ensuring precise word forms will help you achieve a higher standard of lexical precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional and relative clauses ('when you arrive at the home gate, you can see one apartment on your right'). There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. For instance, prepositions and prepositional patterns show minor slips, as seen in 'available in the morning when you get home' (where 'at home' or 'free' might be more fitting) and 'arriving by train in the morning'. Punctuation and verb tenses are managed well enough to keep the meaning clear, though occasional awkward phrasing persists. To secure a higher band, you would need to produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and tighter control over structural patterns.
