Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt only partially, which aligns with the given band. While you managed to include all three required bullet points—explaining the key arrangements, giving directions from the station, and suggesting an evening activity—some of these ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, the directions to your house rely entirely on showing an auto driver your location, which lacks descriptive detail. Similarly, the evening plans are mentioned rather briefly. To move up to the next level, you need to fully develop all parts of the task with more elaboration and extension, ensuring that every bullet point is thoroughly explained rather than touched upon minimally.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation present in the response, such as using transitional markers like 'firstly' and 'after you reached at home', but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. The text relies heavily on basic cohesive devices, and some referencing is not entirely clear, such as the abrupt transitions between sentences without proper linking. Furthermore, the paragraphing is somewhat disorganised, with ideas crowded together rather than logically separated. To achieve a higher score, you should ensure a clear logical progression throughout the letter, use a wider range of cohesive devices more accurately, and structure your paragraphs more effectively to guide the reader smoothly from one point to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some everyday words, but there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, such as 'imporatant', 'neighbore', 'favrourite', and 'Peak up'. These errors do not entirely block communication, but they cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical control. To improve your score in this area, you should work on expanding your range of vocabulary, practicing correct spelling for common words, and using more precise lexical items appropriate for an informal letter without relying on repetitive or incorrectly formed words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammar demonstrates a limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple or poorly linked clauses, and your attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty, such as in the run-on sentence 'I try To come as soon as possible upto 6:30 I ll be come after...'. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, punctuation, capitalization, and prepositions, such as 'I m not Coming', 'upto 6:30', and missing periods. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher standard, you must aim for greater accuracy in your basic structures, exercise better control over punctuation and sentence boundaries, and use verb tenses more consistently.
