Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you explain where the key is, arrange transport from the station, and say you will be home in the evening with plans for dinner and a film. These details make the letter useful and appropriately personal. The transport arrangement is especially clear because you mention an Uber and a confirmation screenshot. However, some points are less fully explained: the route from the station is delegated to the Uber rather than giving directions, and the key arrangement could include a clearer description of the hiding place or a backup plan. The evening plans are relevant but could be developed with a specific time or film choice. This covers the task well overall, while fuller detail would make the arrangements more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression from your apology and arrival arrangements to transport and evening plans, followed by an appropriate closing. Paragraphing helps separate these topics, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “Finally” make the sequence easy to follow. The reader can understand the main arrangements without difficulty. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, and the first paragraph combines several ideas in a long sentence. The transition from the Uber booking to the offer of further travel help could also be smoother. To strengthen the flow, use a wider range of natural links and divide instructions into shorter, clearly connected sentences. Overall, the organisation is logical and the message progresses clearly.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a friendly personal letter, including practical expressions such as “stuck at work,” “precooked meal,” and “feel free to text me.” These help communicate the arrangements and maintain an informal tone. There are also attempts at less common wording, such as “nostalgic discussions,” but some choices and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural: “alligned with your arrival time,” “freshen up,” and “refreshen our memories” do not sound fully natural in context. Spelling errors such as “recieve,” “untill,” and “nostaglic” are noticeable, although the intended meaning remains clear. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully to make your vocabulary more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex structures, including the opening contrast with “but unfortunately” and the time clause beginning “as soon as.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, and you use a range of sentence patterns to explain the arrangements. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “I had made” is not the natural tense for arrangements already made, “bathroom have” lacks agreement, and “as soon as I will reach home” uses an unsuitable future form after a time conjunction. The long sentence beginning “Firstly” also joins several clauses without clear punctuation. Review tense choices and agreement, and separate instructions into complete sentences.
