Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The letter covers the main situation and gives the reader some useful arrangements: keys can be collected from Kamal, a taxi has been booked, and you expect to return in the evening and go out for dinner. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the route from the station to your house is not explained; saying a taxi will take the relative there does not provide directions or clarify how to identify the driver and vehicle. The arrival arrangements are also brief, and “I will be back soon in the evening” is not a clear time. Develop these details with a specific meeting or pickup plan, a clear route or address, and an approximate time you will be home. A suitable opening and closing would also make the letter feel complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The information follows a generally understandable order: you explain your absence and key arrangements, mention transport, then describe what the relative can do at home and your evening plan. This gives the letter some organisation. However, the ideas are packed into one paragraph, so the reader has to work through several different topics without clear breaks. Linking phrases such as “More over” and “Last butt not least” are awkward or inaccurate, and the repeated use of “you” and “I” does little to connect details smoothly. Separate the key and arrival information, travel instructions, and evening plans into short paragraphs, and use straightforward links such as “When you arrive” and “As for dinner” to make the progression clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough everyday vocabulary to communicate the basic arrangements, including “keys,” “neighbour,” “taxi,” “kitchen,” and “dinner.” There are also attempts to use a more personal, friendly tone. However, the range is limited and several spelling or word-choice errors make the letter less natural, such as “taxy,” “hood spirit,” and “Last butt not least.” Some expressions are unclear or unsuitable for this context, particularly “find this letter radiant health.” Choose familiar, accurate phrases rather than attempting expressions you are unsure about. For example, say “I hope you’re well,” “I’ve arranged a taxi,” and “Last but not least.” Correct spelling and more precise transport details would make the message easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response mainly uses simple statements and a few joined clauses, such as “I already told her about you” and “we would go out for that and enjoy.” This is enough to convey the basic message, but the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “I am in Delhi from last two days,” where the tense and time expression are not formed correctly, and “I hope you could find this letter,” which does not express the intended greeting accurately. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, with missing sentence boundaries around the taxi details and dinner plan. Practise accurate present perfect forms, articles, and sentence boundaries, while adding a few controlled clauses to explain arrangements clearly.
