Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address the main practical points by explaining that a spare key will be left in a key safe and giving both taxi and bus options from the station. However, the response only partially fulfils the task: the route is vague (“the nearest bus stop to my house”), and the final paragraph repeats travel information rather than adding useful details. Most importantly, you do not say when you will be home or suggest an activity to do together that evening. These omissions leave a significant part of the request unanswered, while the arrangements that are included are only briefly explained. To improve, cover each bullet point explicitly, including your expected arrival time and a specific evening plan, and make the directions more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence: it first discusses the key, then travel from the station, and finally offers help if there is a problem. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the final paragraph repeats the bus-or-taxi information without developing the message, so the overall progression is limited. The long, loosely connected sentences also make relationships between ideas difficult to follow; for example, the key instructions run together with several clauses and little punctuation. Use separate paragraphs for the key arrangements, directions, and evening plans, and connect ideas with clear transitions. Avoid repeating information and ensure each paragraph contributes a distinct part of the message.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough practical vocabulary to communicate the basic arrangements, including “spare key,” “key safe,” “train station,” “taxi,” and “bus stop.” These choices are relevant and generally understandable. There are also attempts at useful phrases such as “full address and directions.” However, the range is repetitive, particularly in the repeated references to buses and taxis, and several spelling or word-choice errors reduce accuracy, such as “aarive,” “ouside,” and “amd.” Some expressions are also imprecise, including “the nearest bus stop to my house.” Build a wider set of accurate travel and arrival phrases, and proofread spelling. More precise wording, such as naming a landmark or stop, would make the directions clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to combine instructions and explanations in longer sentences, and the reader can usually identify the intended meaning. However, the range of structures is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “I will gave” uses an incorrect verb form, while “before she/he to arrive” has an incorrect infinitive pattern. There are also problems with agreement and pronouns in “they can collect they key,” and the opening sentence lacks clear sentence boundaries. These errors sometimes make the instructions harder to understand. Practise accurate future forms and clause patterns, and use shorter sentences where needed. Check subject–verb agreement, pronoun forms, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
