Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response includes some relevant information about your brother’s arrival and your plans for the evening, but it only minimally fulfils the task. You explain that your cousin will meet him at the station, yet you do not say how your brother will get the house keys or enter the house while you are away. The route from the station to your home is also missing; arranging a pickup is not the same as giving directions. You mention that you will return in the evening and suggest going out and swimming, but the timing is vague and the activities are not clearly framed as a practical invitation. Address each bullet directly with specific arrangements and details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: the opening introduces your brother’s visit, the middle describes the cousin meeting him, and the ending turns to evening plans. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and several ideas are crowded into long sentences joined mainly by “and” or “but.” For example, the sentence beginning “so i asked my relative” combines the pickup, arrival time, your reaction, and food preparations, making the sequence difficult to follow. Some references are also unclear, such as “he” referring to different people. Use separate paragraphs for arrival arrangements, directions, and evening plans, and connect events with clear time markers such as “first,” “after that,” and “when I get home.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small set of relevant words, including “train station,” “arrival,” “arrangements,” and “evening,” so the general topic is understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several noticeable spelling or word-choice errors make parts harder to read, such as “gratefull,” “recieved,” “garartefull,” and “exat.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “coming at home,” “cousin brother,” and “go for outing.” Choose more natural expressions such as “coming to stay,” “cousin,” and “go out.” More precise vocabulary for the missing practical details—such as “spare key,” “front door,” and “turn left”—would also help you communicate the arrangements clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, but the range of sentence structures is limited and errors are frequent enough to make some relationships unclear. For example, “i cant recieved him” has an incorrect verb form, while “when i will come back to home” uses an unsuitable tense pattern and preposition. The response also shifts between past and present (“i asked” and “i tell”), and sentence boundaries are often missing, as in the long sequence beginning “so i asked my relative.” Capital letters and punctuation are inconsistent. Practise accurate past-tense narration for arrangements already made, and use a clear future form for your return and plans, with shorter sentences where needed.
