Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You make a relevant attempt to explain why recycling is limited, mentioning inadequate recycling technology and the effects of rubbish on health and the environment. You also indicate that better recycling could create jobs and support the economy. However, the response only partially answers the task: the reasons are not clearly separated or fully explained, and the second question—what should be done to change people’s behaviour—is not directly addressed with practical measures. The conclusion lists benefits rather than summarising specific solutions. To strengthen the response, explain causes such as limited collection services or low public awareness, then propose actions such as providing separate bins, improving collection systems, or educating residents, with a relevant example for each.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and basic signposting such as “To begin with,” “Secondly” and “In the conclusion” helps show the intended structure. However, the progression is difficult to follow because ideas shift abruptly: the first body paragraph moves from population and pollution to technology, China, jobs and the economy without clear links. The second paragraph mainly repeats negative effects rather than developing a new point or answering the solutions question. Some connections between sentences are unclear, and the opening does not establish a focused direction. Organise the essay around distinct points—causes first, then solutions—and use linking phrases to show how each example supports the point being made.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “recycle,” “garbage,” “pollution,” “technology,” “residents’ health” and “economy,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and many spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response difficult to understand, for example “polulated,” “redoing things,” “durty,” and “economical criese.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “clean phase” and “next level machine.” Aim to use accurate, familiar expressions before trying more ambitious wording. Learning collocations such as “recycling facilities,” “waste collection,” “public awareness” and “environmental impact” would help you express the causes and solutions more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures, including “we can see so many countries do not have much technology to recycle their garbage.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, and the main topic is usually understandable. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or faulty, as in “In this topic will know…” and “I some place have advanced machine.” Errors with articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries also occur, for example “many countries facing problem” and “that make country clean.” These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and articles. For example: “Many countries face problems with population growth and pollution” and “Governments should provide recycling facilities.”
