Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for low recycling rates and suggesting solutions. However, the development is somewhat superficial. The example provided regarding India is statistically questionable and lacks a clear link to the 'reasons' for not recycling, focusing instead on the consequences. The ideas are relevant but could be extended with more logical depth. The position is clear, but the conclusion introduces new information about government support that was not previously discussed, which slightly weakens the overall argument structure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from the introduction to the body and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Additionally' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between the 'reasons' and the 'impact' is somewhat muddled. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the final paragraph lacks a strong summary of the main points discussed.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. There are several spelling errors, such as 'mush' instead of 'much', 'garbadge' instead of 'garbage', 'reslut' instead of 'result', 'urgentely' instead of 'urgently', 'awarness' instead of 'awareness', and 'speaselising' instead of 'specialising'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, though they do not fully impede communication. To reach a higher band, you should focus on accurate spelling and incorporating more precise, topic-specific collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'it come with a negative impact' (subject-verb agreement), 'the importance to recycle' (incorrect preposition), and 'other government support' (plurality). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is often repetitive. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
