Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, recycling the things become a worldwide issue. In majority of countries, public choose to not recycle their waste as much as they could which definately impact on the climate changes. I strongly believe that more and more people need to be educated to recycle their things in sake of saving an environment.
As per the current conditions, plastics and other recyclable belongings needs to be recycle to save a mother nature. Firstly, plastic bottles, news papers, books and other things which can be recycle easily, need to dump on correct place. Thus, it not only helps to mitigate the pollution, butit also assist to reduce the large piles of waste at dumping site. Threfore, we can save land, reduce air pollution, and so on. Secondly, recycling things such as pizza boxes and other papaer items, we can use them for other items. This way we can save many trees from cutting down for the paper use.
To save the environment, government should build more and more bottle depots. Such facilities encourage people to deposite plastic waste in to rebate the money. For instance, in Canada, Alberta province is charging money for the plastic items, and people can get those money back once they deposit the empty cans to the bottle depots. Moreover, differentiate the house hold waste in saprate bins would also an encouraging step towards a change. This way, it can be easiy to differentiate the ordinary waste and recycling waste.
To conclude, recycling the waste is crucial to mitigate pollution on the earth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention reasons like lack of education and suggest solutions like bottle depots and waste separation, the explanation remains quite superficial. For instance, the link between 'recycling things' and 'saving trees' is a good start, but it could be expanded with more specific detail to reach a higher band. The conclusion is also very brief and does not effectively summarize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraph could be improved to better link the problem of waste to the government-led solutions. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the use of cohesive devices lacks the flexibility required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'recyclable belongings', 'dumping site', and 'bottle depots'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and minor errors, such as 'in sake of' (should be 'for the sake of'), 'to rebate the money' (should be 'to receive a rebate'), and 'differentiate the house hold waste' (should be 'separate household waste'). These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a limited range of vocabulary and some issues with collocation and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('recyclable belongings needs to be recycle'), article usage ('save a mother nature'), and word form errors ('it also assist to reduce'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization. While the meaning is generally clear, the persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb forms.
