Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is universally acknowledged that world is, persistently, facing disaster events of global warming, which can lead to the cause of life-threatening issues. Therefore, the majority of countries reluctant to adapt recycling process, which seem effective in long term. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this issue and present a balanced view.

On the one hand, it is undeniable that the repercussions of avoiding recycling methods may lead to serious environmental problems. Although, the cause behind this trend might be lack of awareness and proper resources. Firstly, as we observe that due to the increasing level of competition , citizens emphasis more focus on ameliorating their own skills instead of knowing about social issues. In consequence, they have lack knowledge about the benefits of waste management system and its implications. Secondly, some nations, especially emerging economies, may hardly afford new recycling machines due to financial constraint, which remain paramount. To exemplify, the recent study highlighted that 70% of non-disposable bags were carried out from River Ganga.

To address this issue, I, albeit, concur that international aids might be require to deal with the phenomenon as local authorities have to invest tax-money on different aspects such as transport, medical, and above all education. However, instead of relying of public authority, individuals can educate minors by advertising, publishing campaign and so on. It could be an effective source to reach masses.

To recapitulate, after careful considering aforementioned causes and the solutions, I believe that balanced approach should be accounted to deal with the emergence.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The reasons provided—lack of awareness and financial constraints—are relevant but could be more deeply explored. The solutions section is a bit brief, particularly the suggestion for individuals to educate minors, which lacks concrete detail. The position is clear, but the essay would benefit from more specific examples to support the arguments, as the mention of the River Ganga is somewhat disconnected from the broader argument about recycling machines. Overall, it meets the requirements but remains at a general level of discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'To recapitulate', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, such as 'I, albeit, concur'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for instance, the connection between the River Ganga example and the preceding point about recycling machines is not explicitly linked. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, providing a coherent structure overall.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated language like 'ameliorating', 'repercussions', and 'paramount'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'facing disaster events', 'reluctant to adapt recycling process', and 'relying of public authority'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more natural collocations and ensure that academic vocabulary is used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include missing articles ('world is', 'lack knowledge'), incorrect verb forms ('might be require'), and awkward phrasing ('after careful considering'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas used in several places. While the student attempts complex structures, the control over them is inconsistent, leading to errors that, while not preventing understanding, are noticeable and frequent.
