Student answer (Band 6.5)

There has been considerable debate regarding doing recycle of products nowadays. In several nations, individuals are not recycling their garbage as much as they used to be. I believe that busy work life and less aware citizens are main reasons behind this problem, and to tackle this situation, the government and individuals have to put input by themselves.

To begin with, there are a number of reasons behind this problem, and the most prominent one is people are getting more busier than before. This means, nowadays each of family members have been working full time, as a result having less time for home choses, whereas in the past, people used to be lived slow life and minimal work. There are hardly able to manage cooking and house work. Secondly, some of the resident are uneducated and not aware about the recycling process. For instance, people who moving from developing nation like India to develop nation, Canada are significantly have not information about how to dump garbage in separate bins because they used to do all garbage in one bin.

To tackle this situations, I believe that not only the government but also citizens have to work together. To explain more, the higher authorities should implement updated polices regarding rubbish dump, also organized awareness campaign for the local citizens about benefits of recycling things. Simultaneously, people should need to be as responsible about their garage and dump in correct place with the following the all necessary procedures.

In conclusion, busier life style and not know about the recycling are the primary causes of this problem, and putting strict rules and being responsible citizens are best solutions for that.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding busy lifestyles is a bit repetitive, and the example about immigrants is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, nuanced examples or elaborate further on the consequences of these issues. The structure is logical, but the depth of analysis could be improved to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with,' 'Secondly,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To explain more' and 'Simultaneously, people should need to be as responsible.' The referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences feels a bit disjointed due to grammatical errors. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prominent,' 'authorities,' and 'implement.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'doing recycle of products,' 'getting more busier,' and 'home choses' (chores). These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that you use the correct word forms (e.g., 'recycling' instead of 'doing recycle'). Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic terms would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'people used to be lived slow life,' 'some of the resident are uneducated,' and 'not know about the recycling.' Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are areas that require significant attention. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like articles and verb forms will help improve your score.
