Student answer (Band 5.5)
In my opinion, recycling is the best option for us it also reduce air pollution , water pollution e.t.c. In some countries people don't recycle their rubbish. Some countries don't have the opportunities to recycle their rubbish but some have it but don't do this. Therefore, their countries are very polluted. Their peoples are sick because when they have rubbish it cause pollution and when it cause pollution peoples get sickness and pollution also cause so much desies like cancer, blood preasure and sugar. soo these countries must have to clean their countries and recycle their rubbish. so they save their peoples from sickness and recycling rubbish also give them the benifit of new products like water bottles and many other plastic things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 123 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the essay touches upon the reasons for low recycling rates and suggests that governments should intervene, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or depth. The response does not fully address the two-part prompt, as the suggestions for change are vague and lack detail. To improve, you must expand your points with clear explanations and concrete examples to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear structure, consisting of a single, short paragraph. There is no clear introduction, body, or conclusion. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and repetitive, with 'so' and 'and' being used to link ideas in a simplistic manner. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences are not logically sequenced into distinct paragraphs. To improve, you should organize your response into at least four paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing each part of the prompt, and a conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the expression of ideas. There are several spelling errors, such as 'desies' (diseases), 'preasure' (pressure), 'soo' (so), and 'benifit' (benefit). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic in an academic or formal manner. You should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to the environment and sustainability, and practice using more precise synonyms to avoid repeating simple words like 'rubbish' or 'countries'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('it also reduce'), pluralization ('their peoples'), and sentence structure (run-on sentences). The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which are necessary for higher band scores. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, punctuation, and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
