Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. While the essay introduces the reasons for low recycling rates and mentions the need for solutions, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. The ideas presented, such as 'hectic lifestyle' and 'lack of awareness', are relevant but remain under-developed due to the lack of length. To improve, you must ensure you fully address both parts of the prompt with sufficient supporting detail and reach the minimum word count to allow for a full conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization with an introduction and a body paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'To expound', and 'In addition', but they are sometimes used mechanically. The progression of ideas is interrupted by the unfinished nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a complete structure makes the overall flow disjointed. To improve, focus on ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that the essay reaches a logical conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'abundance of garbage available' (instead of 'a large amount of waste') and 'materials for their household used' (instead of 'household items'). The phrasing is often repetitive or unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to environmental issues, such as 'sustainability', 'waste management', or 'environmental consciousness', and focus on correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Individuals usually buying packets items' (should be 'buy packaged items') and 'some members of the society less aware' (missing the verb 'are'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focus on proofreading for basic verb forms and sentence construction to improve accuracy.
