Student answer (Band 6.0)

A lot of people do not recycle their garbage in some countries.

There are many advantages when individual recycle their rubbish but most people do not know the benefits, I believe that is why they are not recycling their garbage.

Fist of all , I think there should be a rule in those countries from their authorities, that separation of waste is the best ideal, the authorities of these countries should distribute different garbage cans to every house hold so that separation of waste will be easy

Furthermore, there should be law that will charge people who disobey the rule by still putting all waste materials together.

Recycling helps the country to benefit by making different goods out of them, it also make the country clean by the sharing of dustbins, because people will not put waste on the ground.

From my own experience and views, i have seen and witness countries who have gone through this procedure and has perfectly help the country and the citizens as well.

Meanwhile, it has serve as a job opportunity for most of the citizens, and granted benefits for the country.

The government of these countries I have witness have open lots of factories through this recycling program and has really serve as a great opportunity to have business with other countries which they benefit a lot.

Also, the country is clean because the sharing of these bins, people now don't litter around and has prevented people from acquiring lots of diseases. There are no chocking when it rains to course flood in the country which both the citizens and the government are excited about .

I will encourage these countries who do not believe in recycling to start now and they will not regret in the future .

It is not too late to start.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention the lack of knowledge and the need for government intervention, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, you mention that you have 'witnessed' countries with successful programs, but you do not provide concrete details about what those countries did or why it worked. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explained with clear, logical support rather than just stating the idea. The position is clear, but the overall development remains basic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Also', 'Meanwhile'). There are issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the awkward phrasing in the sentence starting with 'Recycling helps the country...'. Paragraphing is present but somewhat inconsistent in its logical flow, as some ideas are grouped together that might be better separated. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that transitions smoothly to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'garbage', 'rubbish', and 'clean'. There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'sharing of dustbins' (which likely means 'provision of bins') and 'no chocking' (which should be 'no blockages'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary limits the score. Try to incorporate more precise terminology related to environmental management and policy-making to demonstrate a broader range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('individual recycle', 'it has serve'), incorrect verb tenses ('has perfectly help'), and awkward phrasing ('to course flood'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage.
