Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited. The reasons provided (e.g., plastic usage) are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The solutions, such as banning plastic or using recycling machines, are mentioned but not fully explained or supported with clear logical steps. The introduction incorrectly states that the essay will discuss 'both the views,' which is a misunderstanding of the prompt's structure (it is a two-part question, not a discussion of two opposing opinions). Overall, the ideas are relevant but remain at a surface level, preventing a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'After that' and 'in the cities side' are used awkwardly, and the transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt. The logical progression is hindered by the lack of clear topic sentences and the repetitive nature of the arguments. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are not always used to create a natural flow of information, and the conclusion is somewhat disjointed from the preceding body paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'plastic bags' and 'pollution.' There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'increasinng,' 'polluttion,' 'examplify,' 'papper,' and 'forigen,' which occasionally distract the reader. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the persistent spelling mistakes indicate a need for a broader range of topic-specific vocabulary and better attention to word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies primarily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('every person use'), article usage ('in the cities side'), and punctuation (excessive use of commas and spaces before punctuation). Complex structures are rarely attempted, and when they are, they often contain errors that impede clarity. The control over basic grammar is inconsistent, and the frequent errors in sentence construction and punctuation prevent the text from reaching a higher level of accuracy.
