Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is irrefutable that pollution in some nations, such as rubbish, has been increasing day by day due to a massive increase in shopping and more advertising, and people are buying more new products instead of reusing them compared to the past. I concur with the problem and will give reasons and some fruitful solutions to get rid of it.
To start with, the first and foremost reason why people are not recycling old stuff is to maintain an image in society. To explain it, most people purchase new branded clothes to reveal their status in society and that they belong to high society. For example, A survey revealed that 90% of people bought branded dresses like Gucci and Nike to maintain their choices in expensive garments. The second reason is the lack of time and the lack of maintenance of the garbage system. To justify it, People have less time compared to the past to show their skills in using old stuff for multiple purposes, and also the garbage system does not work properly to collect the different kinds of rubbish for reuse. In spite of collecting it wisely, they load garbage in one truck and throw it away in open landfills. Therefore, People are not using them again for other purposes.
However, a few actions could be taken to make people use some stuff as clothes, utensils, and plastic bags, for a second time. Society and the Government should take steps toward opening of superstore where people who want to get rid of any kind of stuff which could be useful for other people can buy on cheaper prices; with this new production of the same products will slow down and not only reduce to pollution that is happening while producing it, but also save water as well.
To conclude, it cannot be denied that folks are not using some products again as they were used to due to modernization, though I think it can be solved with legal authorities by opening new stores to reuse them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the desire for social status and the lack of efficient waste management systems. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation regarding 'social image' is clear, but the second reason regarding the 'garbage system' is slightly underdeveloped. The solutions provided are practical, though they could benefit from more specific examples or a deeper exploration of how government policy could be implemented. Overall, the position is clear throughout, and the response fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The use of cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'The second reason', and 'To conclude' helps guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing within sentences could be smoother. For instance, the phrase 'In spite of collecting it wisely' is slightly awkward in context. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, which contributes to the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'landfills', 'modernization', and 'production'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'pollution in some nations, such as rubbish' (rubbish is not a type of pollution) and 'opening of superstore'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but more precise and varied vocabulary would be needed to reach a higher band. The repetition of 'stuff' also limits the lexical variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the garbage system', 'the pollution'), pluralization, and preposition usage. For example, 'save water as well' and 'reduce to pollution' are slightly ungrammatical. Punctuation is generally functional, though some sentence boundaries could be improved for better flow. Despite these errors, the grammar does not impede communication, and the student demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, even if they are not always perfectly accurate.
