Student answer (Band 7.0)
In many nations, citizens are not recycling their waste as much as they could. This essay will discuss the reasons behind it and how to bring postive change in the society.
To begin with there are many reasons that people are not recycling their garbage, but one of the prominet is unawareness. Many people does not have knoweldge about what colour of bins they can use for green waste, cardboards and glass waste. Therefore, they gather all the garbage in single container, which is harmful for the enviroment as well as for the person who handle the waste. Apart from this, there is no liability towards individuals, who does not take care of their garbage correctly. For example, putting vegetable , empty glass and plastic bottles all in one bin is unethical. They should be held responsible for their actions.
To improve the recycling government can start local commnuity drives to make people aware of proper disposal of harmful materials. Not only will individuals become more interested to save their surroundings, but also they can learn vauable skills as using bottles as planters and glasses, oragnic waste to make composte and cardbards to build gift boxes. In addition to this, workshops can held to teach people how to use these extra material in daily life. As a result, people will learn the importance of recycling. Moreover, the governement should imposes fines on people who are not seprating their waste after the all awareness.
In concusion, although lack of knoweldge about the disposal of waste is the main cause of this, I believe with combined efforts sof governement and peolpe can solve this issue and bring postive change in their enviroment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of public awareness and the need for government intervention through education and fines. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the suggestion to use waste as planters is a bit simplistic and could have been expanded to discuss systemic or industrial recycling improvements. The position is clear throughout, and the essay maintains a consistent focus on the topic. To reach a higher band, ensure that arguments are supported with more detailed explanations or broader examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Apart from this', and 'In addition to this', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'these extra material'). The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their intended antecedents. Overall, the structure is effective and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'prominent' and 'liability', though there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'postive', 'commnuity', 'vauable', 'composte', 'cardbards', 'concusion', 'governement'). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on accuracy in spelling and collocation. Expanding the range of topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental sustainability would also help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Many people does not have', 'individuals, who does not take care', 'government should imposes') and article usage. Punctuation is mostly functional, though there are some missing commas. The errors are persistent but do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to demonstrate better control over basic grammatical rules and increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences.
