Student answer (Band 6.0)

Individuals living across the world, failed to recycle all of their rubbish. This is because, the recycle station is faraway from the city center. To resolve this, the government should build garbage collection centers nearby community areas.

The main reason why people failed to recycle all of the garbage they have in their households is because of lack of garbage collection center nearby the living areas. To recycle the garbage, individuals must have to go to rural areas, where they can give the trash for recycling at waste recycle centers, but this is not practically possible everyday as it require time and travel. As an example, in China, people have to throw their waste into local rivers and land because recycle station is located distance from their houses.

To solve this problem, I would suggest that the government should build garbage collection booths nearby community areas, so that people can easily submit it for recycle anytime. This collection center then manage the transportation of waste from centers to recycling station. In India, the government created swach bharat booths across the country, where people can go and submit plastic waste for the recycle process easily and conveniently.

In conclusion, although people currently not able to recycle all their rubbish but with help from government this issue can be solve by building new wastage collection centers nearby living areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying a lack of infrastructure as the primary cause and suggesting government-led collection points as a solution. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. The ideas are relevant but remain somewhat superficial; for instance, the example regarding China is a broad generalization that lacks specific detail. To reach a higher band, you must expand your arguments with more nuanced reasoning and ensure you meet the minimum word count requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas from the problem to the solution. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical (e.g., 'The main reason why...', 'To solve this problem...'). Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to create a more natural, sophisticated connection between your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'garbage', 'rubbish', and 'recycle' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'submit it for recycle' instead of 'submit it for recycling' or 'recycling process'. To improve, you should incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental issues, such as 'waste management', 'sustainability', 'infrastructure', or 'disposal facilities'. Expanding your range to include less common lexical items will help you demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people currently not able to recycle'), article usage (e.g., 'the recycle station is faraway'), and tense consistency. For example, 'people failed to recycle' should be 'people fail to recycle' to reflect a general truth. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic tense and pluralization errors.
