Student answer (Band 6.0)
Waste management is an integral part of maintaining cleanliness. Around the globe, not many individuals recycle the garbage materials as much as they can. This essay will discuss the needs and steps taken for appropriate garbage disposal.
Firstly, the main reason behind not recycling the rubbish is that proper waste management techniques are not implemented by the government. In countries like India, people disposes the general waste and recyclable materials together at a particular location of village or city. This is because people think they are not accountable for appropriate garbage disposal and think that it is the government's responsibility to look after waste products. Moreover, government is not providing enough information to the public on waste disposal methods. So, people are not taking steps for recycling their rubbish.
However, to tackle this issue, government can give rewards or credits to people for disposing proper waste. One such instance is that in Japan, government gives money to the public for appropriate garbage disposal which lures the people to perform proper disposal of waste products. Apart from this, citizens can take some accountability to keep the country clean and disease free as not disposing garbage or not doing appropriate recycling can cause plenty of mosquito borne diseases such as Malaria and those recyclable material will stay on earth for years. Therefore, if all countrymen comes together and co-operate with the government, proper recycling can be achieved.
In conclusion, even though government is not taking enough steps for appropriate waste management, people can take accountability and they can support the government in keeping the nation clean.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of government infrastructure and the potential for financial incentives. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on why people do not recycle could be more nuanced, and the solution section relies heavily on a single example from Japan. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' by exploring psychological or social factors beyond just government responsibility, and provide a more comprehensive range of solutions, such as educational campaigns or stricter legislation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main questions. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'However', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the problem of government inaction and the solution of financial rewards is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is always clear would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'waste management', 'recyclable materials', and 'disposal'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'lures the people' (which has a slightly negative connotation) and 'all countrymen comes together' (which is slightly unnatural). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and precise terminology related to environmental issues to demonstrate a wider and more flexible range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people disposes', 'government is not providing', 'countrymen comes') and minor article errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles and pluralization. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help boost your score.
