Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, individuals in many nations do not recycle their waste as much as they could. This is mainly due to the lack of knowledge abouy the same among people which can be easily resolved by authorities by implementing mandatory classes about waste management in schools.

The main culprit is the limitted or unclear knowledge about rubbish recycling. To expound, people are not aware of the proper garbage ethics. They have no knowledge about the green, blue and black garbage bin. They tend to discard everything in one garbage bin, they do not know what wet waste is or in which bin does the plastic bottles is goes, due to this it becomes extremely difficult for the waste centres to recycling the waste in proper manner. To cite an example, in the recent studies done in India, even after putting three different kinds of bin on the street, people tend to throw their garbage in one bin.

State should introduce a mandatory classes in primary schools to teach basic garabge ethics to children so they know from the begging how to manage waste. For instance, Japan does not have garabge bins on the street because they teach their children in schools about waste management.

Furthermore, governement should also allocate proper funding toward building more waste or garbage centres so the process of recycling can be done in the proper manner.

In conclusion, having lack of knowledge about garbage recyling is the main reason behind this, while this can be easily overcome by authorities by teaching children about waste in primary schools.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of public knowledge and the suggestion of school-based education. However, the development is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding 'garbage ethics' is repetitive, and the suggestion about government funding for waste centres is introduced abruptly in the final body paragraph without sufficient elaboration. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or specific, well-explained examples to ensure the response feels fully developed rather than just outlined.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To expound,' 'For instance,' and 'Furthermore,' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. Additionally, there are instances where the flow between sentences is disjointed, such as the transition between the lack of knowledge and the example from India. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'waste management' and 'recycling.' However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'abouy,' 'limitted,' 'garabge,' and 'recyling,' which occur frequently. Furthermore, some word choices are imprecise, such as 'garbage ethics' or 'the same among people.' To improve, you should focus on accurate spelling and expanding your range of collocations to express your ideas with more precision and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'in which bin does the plastic bottles is goes' and 'State should introduce a mandatory classes.' These errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage are noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical consistency, particularly with pluralisation and verb forms, and try to vary your sentence structures while ensuring they remain grammatically sound.
