Student answer (Band 6.0)
There are several countries that avoid recycling their waste rather than doing it. I think this is a very serious problem to gain attention and also take various steps such as education, promotion to greens and rewards to citizens. In this way, all would take initiative to recycle.
As many countries have poor education towards the recycling process and types of it. Among all the individuals, only a few people know and follow the strict rules of recycling. To address this situation, compulsory curriculum in all schools, colleges and universities regarding process, health hazards and importance to utilise their knowledge into the action. School-going children set a good example by implementing the reuse of waste materials in their school supplies, such as stationery materials, bags, cans, water bottles, papers, etc. If the demand of new supplies is minimal, there will be no need to produce more materials for children and staff of schools.
Another thing that has to be addressed is the promotion of a green environment. People should be aware of the importance of forests, farms, trees, plants and also the requirement of oxygen and green gases in the environment for healthy living. Put recycle bins with monitored cameras for all offices and public sectors so no one breaks the rule, and if they catch in Wi-Fi cameras, then the government imposes a fine on them.
In addition, some companies or departments are using natural products such as wooden forks, spoons and dishes for their staff. Put their images on social media to spread the message of the green revolution among the citizens. Countries could give special rewards to the person who works for recycling products. For example, Tata Industries and Birla Industries use recycled paper for their staff. These multinational companies give motive to other companies as well as individuals to use more and more recycled products.
To conclude this, avoid to do recycle for many nations could be an alarming situation. For that, many individuals, companies and education authorities are doing their best to promote, emphasise and implement in action the recycling of the materials as much as possible.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of education and the need for government intervention through fines and incentives. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The first paragraph is quite brief, and some points, such as the mention of 'Wi-Fi cameras,' are slightly underdeveloped or unclear in their practical application. The position is clear throughout, but the essay would benefit from more cohesive arguments that link the 'why' directly to the 'how' in a more structured manner. Overall, it covers all requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a logical progression of ideas, moving from the problem of education to solutions involving infrastructure and corporate responsibility. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Another thing that has to be addressed is...' and 'To conclude this, avoid to do recycle...'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. While the paragraphing is sufficient, the flow could be improved with more sophisticated linking words to connect the arguments more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'health hazards,' 'multinational companies,' and 'green revolution.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'avoid to do recycle,' 'promotion to greens,' and 'give motive to other companies.' These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more precise usage of collocations and verb-noun pairings to reach a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and sentence construction, such as 'if they catch in Wi-Fi cameras' (passive voice error) and 'avoid to do recycle' (incorrect infinitive usage). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that affect the overall fluency. The range of structures is sufficient to communicate the message, but the frequency of errors prevents the writing from being considered consistently accurate.
