Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation regarding the lack of education is brief, and the solutions, while relevant, are not fully elaborated. The essay lacks a clear, consistent position, and the introduction is somewhat informal. To improve, you should aim to provide more detailed examples and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point. The response meets the minimum length requirement, but the depth of analysis needs to be increased to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and missing transitions. While some cohesive devices like 'However' and 'Therefore' are used, they are sometimes placed incorrectly or used to connect ideas that do not follow logically. The paragraphing is present, but the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are frequent spelling errors such as 'awaernes', 'knowleadge', 'sarching', and 'addopt'. Additionally, word choice is often imprecise, such as 'the one who have a basic knowleadge' instead of 'those who possess basic knowledge'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic words and practice using synonyms to avoid repetition of words like 'habbit' and 'recycle'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the most of the people does not have' and 'this happen because'. Sentence structures are often simple or contain errors when attempting complexity, such as 'the change starting for each other'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency, before attempting more complex structures.
