Student answer (Band 6.0)

Recycling is always a debate sparkling issue. It is believed that people can recycle more rubbish than they normally do in some countries. I believe this tendency is fueled by factors such as lack of awareness and unproper services and facilities provided for recycling. This essay will examine reasons and provide some appropriate solution to tackle this problem.

The main reason behind less recycling is that people are not much aware about the items, which can be recycled. As a result those items ends up in landfill, and eventually harming environment. Moreover, in some countries, not enough recycling factories are established. Therefore, there is no other option than through all rubbish to bins or other garbage sites. For example, In the India only 5 recycling platforms has been established, which are in big cities only. Thus small town residents have to dump all rubbish in combined trash bin.

However, this issue can solve by targeting some solutions at individual and government levels. Government should take some invest to educate people about different between bio-degradable and non bio-degradable products. Moreover, every city should have at least one recycling plant. Individuals should be responsible citizen by following all rules and regulations to make future more sustainable.

In conclusion, less recycling is a serious issue caused my uneducated people and lack of facilities to do recycling. However, it can be tackled through combined actions taken by responsible citizens and authorities both. Neither of them can change whole phenomenon alone, So unity matters a so much.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding 'lack of awareness' is brief, and the example provided about India is specific but lacks depth in terms of how it directly impacts the global recycling trend. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations or broader implications. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall development remains at a basic level, fitting the criteria for a band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'Therefore', and 'In conclusion', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'This issue can solve by targeting some solutions'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. While the essay is coherent, the use of cohesive devices is not always flexible or natural, which is characteristic of a band 6.0 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'bio-degradable', 'landfill', and 'sustainable'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'debate sparkling issue', 'unproper services', and 'take some invest'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited range and a lack of precision. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more sophisticated vocabulary in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('In the India'), subject-verb agreement ('those items ends up'), and word forms ('caused my uneducated people'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain errors that detract from the overall quality. The frequency of these errors suggests a band 5.5 level, as they are noticeable throughout the text.
