Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for low recycling rates and suggesting solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited. The reasons provided, such as 'people do not have time' or 'lack of facilities', are mentioned but not sufficiently expanded upon with clear examples or logical depth. The conclusion is also somewhat generic and does not effectively summarize the main points discussed. To improve, you should aim to provide more specific, well-developed arguments for each point rather than listing several brief, repetitive ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence', 'In addition', 'To conclude'), they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately. The progression of ideas is not always logical, particularly in the second and third paragraphs, where sentences feel repetitive and lack clear links. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use the same words, such as 'recycle', 'product', and 'rubbish', throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'give the information about to recycle' and 'do the recycle product put their rubbish in bin'. These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary, including synonyms and more precise collocations related to environmental issues, and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include incorrect verb forms ('they threw the recycle product'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('they do not care the recycle item'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper structure. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors and the lack of complex sentence structures limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and varying your sentence structure will help improve your accuracy and range.
