Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many nations, the non recycling of the trash has increased promptly in many parts of the world. This essay will discuss why this process is common and what steps can be taken to motivate people.

One of the prominent reasons for not recycling the garbage by the people is unawareness. As authorities are not taking any action to motivate or inform the people to reuse the trash instead of throwing in one bin. For an instance, the underdeveloped or developing countries are facing this problem in common as people are unaware about these cleaning methods because higher authorities had never taken any interest in this subject. As a result, people do not care and due to lack of awareness and understanding to recycle the rubbish is having a devastating effect on the nature.

The most viable solution to resolve this issue is the intervention by the government. As western countries have installed garbage bins at every street or on road side, people are motivated to use them often. Consequently, these actions teach people to use different garbage bins rather than using one bin. To take an example, the countries like UK, Canada and other European nations have installed various bins with different colours like green for kitchen, blue for plastic and black for all other non - recyclable trash at homes as well as on roads. This leads to differentiate the trash and easy to collect to recycle it.

To sum up, due to non- interest of the government, the mixing trash has been increased promptly in many nations. However, it can be controlled and regulated if officials follow the pattern of western nations to ensure cleanliness and use different bins.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, focusing on lack of awareness and government infrastructure. However, the development is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding 'unawareness' is repetitive, and the solutions could be more nuanced beyond just 'installing bins.' While the position is clear, the arguments lack depth and specific evidence beyond general observations about Western versus developing nations. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why'—for example, discussing the cost of recycling or the lack of public education campaigns—rather than relying on broad generalizations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For an instance,' 'Consequently,' and 'To sum up,' though some are used mechanically or slightly incorrectly (e.g., 'For an instance' should be 'For instance'). The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, but the referencing is occasionally clunky, such as in the phrase 'the mixing trash has been increased.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they flow more naturally between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, but there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice. For example, 'non recycling of the trash' is unnatural; 'failure to recycle waste' would be better. Similarly, 'non-interest of the government' is not standard collocation; 'lack of government initiative' or 'government apathy' would be more precise. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'recyclable,' 'infrastructure,' and 'intervention,' the overall control is inconsistent. Focus on learning common collocations to improve the naturalness of your expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Issues include incorrect article usage ('the non recycling of the trash'), subject-verb agreement ('the mixing trash has been increased'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammar, particularly articles, prepositions, and sentence fragments, to ensure your writing is more polished and accurate.
