Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many countries recycling issue has become increasingly important as the amount of waste continues to rise.It has been argued that In several countries, household waste is not being reprocessed properly as much as it could be. This Essay will discuss the reason why people dont recycle much and suggest possible solution to adress this issue.

One of the major reason why people dont recycle is there is a lack of awareness particularly in the developing countries. People are not fully aware of the benefits of recycling to them and the environment if they do it actively. As well as, they aren't aware of the consequences of mixing the recyclable waste into the regular waste and therefore they end up combining the waste and dispose. Moreover, it contributes in pollution and results in unnecessary use of natural resources. Therefore, public awareness should be done to encourage people to bifercate the recyclable waste from the regular waste. To exemplify, particularly in low income countries, people often throw their garbage in one bin this happens because most of the people lack in awareness about recycling.

To adress the issue, both govenment and people plays an important role in promoting recycling. Government should held awareness camps for the public where they should actually

demonstrate how and which products should be recycled and why it is of utmost importance. Moreover, public should take active participation in such events and should pass this information in thier families friends and known one's. For example, Government shoudl held nationwide campaign on television and social media where to educate people on the harmfull effects of throwing all the garbage and how it could affect the environment as well as the marine life.

In conclusion, the lack of recycling is a serious environmental issue that can have harmful effects on both marine life and the wider ecosystem. Raising public awareness and improving recycling facilities could encourage people to recycle more and help reduce these negative consequences.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of awareness and the need for government-led campaigns. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the focus on 'awareness' is central to both the problem and the solution paragraphs, which limits the depth of the argument. While the position is clear, the supporting examples, such as 'low income countries', are a bit generalised. To reach a higher band, you should expand on specific, distinct factors (e.g., lack of infrastructure or economic incentives) rather than focusing solely on public knowledge.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'To exemplify', and 'In conclusion', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as 'As well as, they aren't aware', which is grammatically awkward. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, the phrase 'this happens because' in the first body paragraph refers back to a broad situation rather than a specific antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You have attempted some topic-specific vocabulary like 'reprocessed', 'bifercate' (though this is a spelling error for 'bifurcate'), and 'ecosystem'. However, there are several spelling errors ('adress', 'govenment', 'thier', 'harmfull', 'shoudl') and some word choice issues, such as 'public awareness should be done' (should be 'raised' or 'promoted'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of key terms to demonstrate a wider, more flexible range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('government and people plays', 'Government should held'), incorrect verb forms ('should held'), and punctuation errors (missing commas after introductory phrases). While you attempt complex sentences, the control is inconsistent. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tense consistency and subject-verb agreement, and ensure that modal verbs are followed by the correct base form of the verb.
