Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of infrastructure and the need for government intervention through taxes and better facilities. However, the development is somewhat uneven. For instance, the point about 'irresponsible citizens' is asserted but not fully explained or supported with specific evidence. While the response covers the requirements, the analysis remains at a surface level in some areas, preventing it from reaching a higher band. The position is clear throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence', 'On the other hand', and 'Consequently', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'initiating large number of recycling plants never disappoint public'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear; for example, the phrase 'used to live with it' in the second paragraph lacks a clear antecedent. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is generally logical and easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items like 'ameliorate', 'biodegradable', and 'sustainable'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'upgradation' (instead of 'upgrading' or 'improvements'), 'polythene made materials', and 'glass made materials'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a lack of precision. Expanding the range of natural collocations and refining word forms would significantly improve the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the debris', 'a irresponsible citizens'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence fragments. For example, 'the first and foremost reason behind this is being a irresponsible citizens' is grammatically incorrect. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are instances where sentence boundaries are blurred. The errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning.
