Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of public awareness and the need for financial incentives. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'over usage of plastic' is mentioned but not fully linked to why this specifically hinders recycling habits. The solutions are practical, and the inclusion of the Canadian example provides a concrete illustration. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more depth and ensure that all parts of the prompt are explored with equal weight and sophistication.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the jump from discussing plastic usage to the lack of fines is a bit sudden. Additionally, there are some minor issues with referencing, such as 'this recycle issue', which is slightly awkward. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'detrimental', 'implement', and 'innovative'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Over usage of plastic is main concern' (missing articles) and 'avoid to dump the recycle' (incorrect usage of 'recycle' as a noun). Some phrasing is also repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'solution'. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to environmental issues and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include missing articles ('the main concern', 'the government'), subject-verb agreement errors ('Many companies uses'), and awkward phrasing ('government should aware people'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some errors in sentence construction that occasionally distract the reader. To achieve a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules like article usage and verb conjugation.
