IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In many countries, people do not recycle their rubbish as much as they could.

Why do you think this is?

What can be done to change this?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

There has been a lot of increase in the pollution these days. In many countries there are a little steps taken to avoid this issue. People at one end do not tend to recycle waste to reduce the pollution.

People are not bothered much about the environment. They are more into fashion and trends due to which they forget about nature. Buying new bags or new jewellery every time whenever they to shopping has become a trend. Nowadays, people want a new pair of clothes or shoes that matches their personality. They tend to buy things that are revelant for just one outfit and will not use it for any other. This things are mostly made up for new metals or plastic. To tackle this, companies should use the recycled plastic or metals for the product. They should encourage their customer to bring the old things and get some discount so that people will get attracted and will get the older stuff back. This will make them to recycle the waste as much as possible. This technique is been used by one company which has not only increase it's sell but has also helped environment. People appreciate this method and thinks that this will help them to buys more things at good rate. Some people who are cares about nature thinks that thins will help them recycle more and more things and will not increase the need to produce the new ones.

People tend to buy new bags in every time they go for shopping. Most of the bags are made up of plastic which takes millions of years to decompose. Instead, we can try to take the same bags to shopping to avoid buying new bags this will help us reuse the bags. Also, some people will also not think about using plastic container again to pack new things. People can use the bottle to refill the water but the tend to throw them out. Rather than just using any new container we can wash the older one and use them to reduce the waste production. Even if we want to throw plastic away we can use a separate bin which goes to the recycling site to recycle the plastic which will make it more environment friendly. Making sure that we use the things as much as possible and a dispose it properly is also important. For instance, some counties has made a rule to garbage the plastic and metal in a separate bin. This will help them to collect it and take to proper place to recycle the waste.

To conclude, government, fashion companies and people all of us have to come together to address this issue. People have to make sure that whatever product we are using is disposed properly so that it can be recycled properly and fashion companies can encourage them in doing so. Government must invest in recycling site to recycle this waste.
