Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern era, recycling the garbage becomes a major issue. The number of countries are not able to recycle the garbage as required due to numerous reasons such as not having enough resources, knowledge and facilities. In the upcoming paragraph we will discuss the causes in detail before describing the solutions.
Firstly, the primer cause is lack of resources in surroundings. To explain it, majority of people don't have proper garbage bins to store the recycled waste and garbage separately subsequently, they end up mixing both which leads to difficulty in recycle. Moreover, government plays a vital role in this occurring because in many cities authorities don't provide appropriate services to recycle garbage as well as not able to execute strict rules to overcome the problems. For example, Canada has a systematic method to recycling the garbage as the garbage trucks are assigned to collect the rubbish every week from each of the house. Thus, ruling authorities are equally responsible.
Another cardinal factor is awareness and knowledge among individuals. To explicate it, in some of countries due to illiteracy people are unable to recycle their waste of houses, offices etc. As they are not aware about the advantage and repercussions. Therefore, it is important to implement some changes to tackle this issue such as providing information to people through advertisements and newspapers so that people can take required steps. Moreover, there should be fine for violating the rules of decomposition.
In conclusion, either the society or the government both should be aware about their responsibilities as well as duties. Both of them are required to take measurement at individual level.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of infrastructure and the need for public awareness. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'illiteracy' is a generalization that could be better supported with more nuanced examples. The conclusion is brief and lacks a strong summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each reason is fully explored with more specific detail and that the solutions are linked more directly to the problems identified.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'subsequently, they end up mixing both which leads to difficulty in recycle'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'this occurring' in the second paragraph. Improving the variety and natural flow of linking words would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'cardinal factor' and 'repercussions'. However, there are several instances of word choice errors or awkward collocations, such as 'primer cause' instead of 'primary cause', 'recycle the garbage' instead of 'recycling waste', and 'take measurement' instead of 'take measures'. Expanding the range of vocabulary and focusing on correct collocations would improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the garbage', 'the society'), verb forms ('difficulty in recycle'), and sentence construction ('the number of countries are not able to recycle'). Some sentences are slightly fragmented or lack proper punctuation. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these errors occur throughout the text and occasionally distract the reader.
