Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of why people are 'materialistic' lacks specific examples or a clear link to recycling habits. The solutions provided, such as 'organizing some campus' (likely meaning campaigns), are relevant but could be expanded with more detail on how these would practically increase recycling rates. The position is clear, but the overall depth of the argument is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Additionally', 'To explain it', and 'Firstly', though some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'discussing about solution to handle with this'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the causes from the solutions. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'they' without a precise antecedent in the second paragraph.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'tackle with this issue' (should be 'tackle this issue'), 'shelled out their money' (too informal), and 'campus' instead of 'campaigns'. The range is sufficient to convey the message, but the lack of sophisticated or precise terminology limits the score. The repetition of basic words like 'rubbish' and 'people' also indicates a need for a broader range of synonyms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Examples include 'In modern era' (missing article), 'as a consequences' (incorrect pluralization), and 'people are deprived from the information' (incorrect preposition). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from achieving a higher band score.
