Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of awareness and the impact of a hectic lifestyle. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation of why people do not recycle is repetitive, and the solutions are presented in a slightly fragmented manner. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The inclusion of personal notes within the text is a significant distraction that detracts from the professional tone required for an IELTS essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow is frequently interrupted by structural issues. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition' and 'Furthermore', they are sometimes applied mechanically or incorrectly. The paragraphing is inconsistent, with some sentences appearing as isolated fragments, which disrupts the logical progression of ideas. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument smoothly. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked with more natural transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'neglect to make a proper adjustment of waste meterials' and 'ristrict dwellers'. Spelling errors are frequent, including 'migated', 'selutions', 'proceduce', and 'mettter'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of control over word formation and spelling prevents a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise terms related to environmental issues would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'This is because of youngsters are not aware') and article usage. Punctuation is also problematic, with several sentence fragments and run-on sentences that impede readability. While the errors do not completely obscure the meaning, their frequency is high enough to cause difficulty for the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips would significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
